WALKEN AMONG NOMINEES FOR 9TH ANNUAL PRISM AWARDS
De-Lovely, Ray, Desperate Housewives,8 Simple
Rules, Scrubs Also Nominated
LOS ANGELES Nominees were announced today
for the 9th Annual PRISM Awards which recognize
the accurate depiction of drug, alcohol and tobacco
use and addiction in film, television, music and comic
book entertainment. The strong response weve
received from networks, studios and production companies
demonstrates the industrys commitment to portray
these issues accurately and responsibly, said
Brian Dyak, EIC President/CEO. The awards will be
handed out at an awards dinner April 28th at the Beverly
Hills Hotel and will air on the FX Network.
Marcia Cross and Felicity Huffman are nominated for
separate episodes of Desperate Housewives,
with Huffman also nominated in the Performance in
a TV Movie category for Scott Turows Reversible
Errors. Huffmans spouse, William H. Macy,
was also nominated in the Performance for a TV Movie
category for The Wool Cap.
Nominees in the Performance in a Feature Film category
are Jamie Foxx Ray; Scarlett Johansson
A Love Song for Bobby Long; Ashley Judd
De-Lovely; John Travolta A
Love Song for Bobby Long; and Christopher Walken
Around the Bend.
ABC led all broadcast outlets with 16 nominations,
followed by NBC: 6; CBS: 5; MTV Networks:5; WB: 4;
Lifetime: 4; HBO: 3; Fox: 2; Showtime: 2; USA: 2;
TNT: 2; A&E: 2; CNN: 2; UPN: 1; E!: 1; Pax: 1;
Discovery: 1; and ESPN: 1.
NBC-Universal, Warner Bros and Touchstone led among
studios and production companies with each receiving
ten nominations. The remaining breakdown has Paramount:
9; Von Zerneck Sertner Films: 6; Sony: 5; Lions Gate:
4; Hallmark Entertainment: 4; MGM/UA: 3; Steven Bochco
Prods.: 2; CBS Prods.: 2; and IFC Films: 1.

These awards are presented by the Entertainment Industries
Council, Inc. (EIC), in partnership with The Robert
Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) and the National Institute
on Drug Abuse (NIDA), a component of the National
Institutes of Health, Department of Health and Human
Services.
The 9th Annual PRISM Awards, which are returning
to the FX Network for the third year, is the entertainment
industrys only annual awards honoring the accurate
depiction of drug, alcohol and tobacco use and addiction
in movies, television, video, music, interactive and
comic book entertainment.
EIC, a non-profit organization, was founded in 1983
by leaders of the entertainment industry to bring
the power of the industry to bear on health and social
issues. Among the issues EIC addresses are: drug,
alcohol, and tobacco use and addiction; firearm safety
and injury prevention; sun safety; human trafficking;
terrorism and homeland security; mental health; and
